The 7 Geekiest Michael Jackson Parodies

Friday June 26, 2009 7:00 AM

Music fans aren’t the only ones who are mourning the loss of Michael Jackson. Geeks loved the King of Pop, from his awesome Moonwalker video game to the fact that he spent $7 million dollars on a sci-fi music video. Some nerds love him so much that they’ve made tributes and parodies of MJ. Here are 8 of the dorkiest:

7. Legend of Zelda “Thriller” Commercial (Japanese)

Link takes a break from harassing chickens to battle Gannon the best way possible: with Thriller-inspired dance moves! This commercial for Super Nintendo’s A Link To The Past only aired in Japan.

6. “Just Google” – A “Beat It” Parody

A great search engine deserves to be parodied with a great song. It’s just common sense, people!

5. Michael Jackson in Super Mario Bros.

Jackson blazes a path through the Mushroom Kingdom better than that turtle-whacking plumber ever could. Michael’s hat is a powerful weapon against the Hammer Bros, but how will MJ fare against King Koopa?

4. Crazy Japanese Michael Jackson Tribute w/ Puppets

A fat Japanese man in full “Beat It” gear sings falsetto with a puppet chorus. I don’t know what they’re saying, and I also don’t care.

3. WoW Billie Jean

If you think World of Warcraft players spend all their time gold mining and orc hunting, you’re not in a guild with this guy, who made a fantastic “Billie Jean” music video using his WoW character. Dance on, Game Master Jin!

2. Weird Al Yankovic – “Fat”

Weird Al recently saw “Fat,” his most famous video, get inducted into the Comedy Hall of Fame. The glasses wearing, accordion playing parodist who made being White and Nerdy cool owes his career to Michael Jackson – I know Al’s upset about Michael’s death, cause he said so on Twitter.

1. Throbber

Produced in 1986 for cable access, this nerds-do-Thriller parody is so dorky, you might have trouble sitting through it. +20 internets to those who do.
